Several Displaced After Fire Destroys Newark West Ward House

A multi-alarm fire that destroyed a house in Newark's West Ward is under investigation by fire officials.

Heavy fire broke out inside a house in the teen's block of Kenmore Avenue at around 3:35 a.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they observed flames tearing through the first floor of the two and a half story multi-family house.

Crews were able to jump on the fire bringing it under control in less than a half hour according to fire officials.

A search of the house for trapped and injured occupants came back negative.

About a dozen occupants were displaced due to the fire.
