Newark Police are reporting the arrest of seven men for separate shooting incidents that occurred in August.
Police say, Justin Segura, 26, of Newark, was arrested on August 31, 2022, in connection with a shooting that occurred on August 13, 2022, at Cutler Street near Park Avenue.
A victim’s vehicle was struck by gunfire. No injuries have been reported. Segura faces charges of aggravated assault, CDS distribution, CDS possession, and false swearing.
According to NPD, Mustafa Hosley, 45, of Newark, was arrested on August 24, 2022, in connection with discharging a weapon at the 800 block of Broad Street on August 22, 2022. No injuries have been reported.
Hosley is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possessing a firearm for an illegal purpose, and hindering apprehension or prosecution.
Police said Sincere Cooper, 23, of Newark, was arrested on August 23, 2022, and faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose, and criminal mischief in connection with a shooting that occurred on August 7th at the 100 block of Wakeman Avenue.
No injuries have been reported.
Robert Dean, 21, of Newark, was arrested on August 22, 2022, and faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon and discharging a gun within the city limits in connection with an incident that occurred on August 21, 2022, at the 400 block of North 5th Street. Detectives determined that Dean sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound in this incident.
According to police, Ezra Watson, 22, of Newark, was arrested on August 19, 2022, in connection with a shooting at the Marriott Springhill Suites, 651 Routes 1 &9, on August 11, 2022.
No injuries have been reported. Watson is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and criminal mischief.
Police say, Stefan Schwartz, 32, of Newark, was arrested on August 18, 2022, for a shooting that occurred on August 16, 2022, at Pennsylvania Avenue near Murray Street.
A woman sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot injury in this incident. Schwartz is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possessing a firearm for an illegal purpose, and criminal mischief.
According to police, Henry Lopez, 42, of Elizabeth, was arrested on August 18, 2022, in connection with a shooting that occurred at 4th Avenue East and Mount Pleasant Avenue on August 9, 2022.
A victim’s vehicle was struck by gunfire. No injuries have been reported. Lopez faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose.
These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
