Police in Newark requested EMS on the rush after they found a woman suffering a slash wound in a neighborhood in the city's North Ward on Monday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of 204 Parker Street to investigate reports of an injured person at approximately 1:50 a.m.
Police units arriving at the scene found a woman bleeding from the face after suffering an apparent slash wound at that location.
The woman was transported to the hospital where doctors treated severe but non-life threatening injuries according to reports.
Police searched the area for a male suspect who they believe was connected to the incident but it is not clear of an arrest was ever made.
The motive for the incident is in the early stages of the investigation.
