Police in Linden are investigating a pedestrian strike that injured one person on U.S. 1&9 this morning.
Residents were informed to avoid the vicinity of Route 1&9 southbound near Park Avenue after the pedestrian was struck before 6:25 a.m.
Police closed the right and center lanes where detectives photographed and collected evidence at the scene.
UPDATED LINDEN POLICE 7:38 a.m.
"Just after 6:00 a.m., officers responded to reports of an an auto-pedestrian crash at the intersection of S. Park Avenue & E. Edgar Road (Route 1).
A male victim was taken to Newark University Hospital with serious injuries. The Linden Police Accident Investigation Team responded and are leading the investigation.
There are some lane closures in the area, and we expect then to remain closed for the next several hours".
At this point this was NOT a fatal crash.
There were no arrests reported.
