There were severe injuries reported for a person struck by a car at a location overnight in Elizabeth.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of Irvington and Morris avenues before 11:30 p.m. after they received reports of an injured person.
Units arrived at the scene and observed the person down in the roadway suffering severe injuries.
The victim was transported to an area hospital while police stayed at that location and set up a crime scene to investigate the official cause.
There were no other injuries reported.
In a separate incident, a person struck by a vehicle on North and Newark avenues at around 8:25 p.m. had emergency responders on the scene where they observed the conscious and alert victim lying on the ground. The victim was taken to the hospital where doctors treated non-life threatening injuries.
