Police are actively investgiating the circumstances surrounding an incident where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the city's downtown on Saturday evening.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the intersection of Broad and Tichenor streets before 7 p.m. when drivers observed the motionless unidentified person lying in the middle of Broad Street.
EMS arrived at the scene and transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries according to reports.
It is not immediately clear if the driver of the car stayed at the scene.
Newark Police officials have not confirmed an arrest at this time.
