A reported domestic violence incident that occurred in Newark's North Ward sent a man to the hospital after being stabbed Saturday evening.
Police responded to the area of Bloomfield and Mount Prospect avenues at around 5:45 p.m. after receiving reports of an injured person.
Officers arriving at the scene found the victim bleeding after suffering a knife wound to the back according to reports.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital where he was listed in serious condition as of late last night.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office could not confirm a fatality as of 7:15 p.m.
Police took one person into custody and charged them with the violent stabbing. Police have not released the suspect's identity at this time.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
