Separate Illegal Dumping Investigations Lead to Arrest of Newark Men

Authorities announced the arrest of Mr. William Seay, 50, Mr. Phillip Crawford, 52, and Mr. Charles Harris, 39, all of Newark, for two separate incidents of illegal dumping yesterday (Thursday).

According to police, at approximately 10 p.m., members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force observed a man discarding furniture, lamps, and wood from a Nissan Pathfinder parked in the 600-block of Hunterdon Street.

Police arrested Mr. William Seay and charged him with Illegal Dumping and Illegal Transport of Solid Waste.

Police also issued Mr. Seay a quality of life summons for illegal dumping and the vehicle used to carry the dumped materials is subject to seizure by forfeiture authorities siad.

Later in the evening, police responded to reports of illegal dumping activities in the area of 14th Avenue and 6th Street after receiving a report from a concerned citizen that two males were dumping car tires in the backyard of her home.

Arriving officers observed the men, Mr. Phillip Crawford and Mr. Charles Harris, unloading tires from a white box truck and stacking them in the backyard authorities said.

Police immediately arrested both men charging them with Illegal Dumping and Illegal Transport of Solid Waste.

Officers on the scene issued both men quality of life summonses for illegal dumping.

These charges are merely accusations.

Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
