Separate Carjacking Reports Investigated in Newark's East and West Wards Over the Weekend

Newark New Jersey

Authorities in Newark are investigating two separate reports of carjackings that occurred in the city over the weekend.

EMS treated one person for minor injuries in the 70's block of Warwick Street after two suspects (reportedly armed with weapons) attacked the victim before taking a silver 2013 Kia Optima with a NJ license plate number of "RON48". The suspects reportedly struck the victim in the head with an object (weapon)  before fleeing the scene with the vehicle. Possibly accompanied by a light colored Cadillac, the suspects fled in an unknown direction.

Over in the city's West Ward, in the 100 block of Kerrigan Boulevard, a carjacking at gunpoint has police looking for the suspects that made off with a  white 1992 Lexus shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday morning. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a dark jacket, grey sweater and jeans. A red 2008 Honda Accord reportedly accompanied the suspects.
