Ocean County authorities are looking into the cause of a fire that killed a senior woman in Jackson Township Thursday night.
According to preliminary reports, heavy fire tore through a two-story wood-framed house located in the single-digit block of Lehigh Boulevsrad around 8:40 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the home fully involved in flames, with reports of occupants trapped inside the building and fire extending to a nearby home.
Crews were able to get inside the burning home, where they found a severely injured elderly woman.
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead, according to reports. At least one other person suffered non-fatal injuries after jumping from a window of the home.
Two emergency responders suffered minor injuries from the blaze and the fire was brought under control in just over an hour.
