Monmouth County offcials are investigating a fie that killed a senior resident inside an apartment in Manalapan Wednesday.
According to a statement released by officials, at approximately 6:21 p.m., Manalapan Police Department and Gordon’s Corner Fire Department responded to the residence of 9 Pine Cluster Circle within the Covered Bridge development.
Upon arrival and entry into the unit, officials found a self-extinguished fire and the remains of an older male, deceased at that location.
The cause and manner of the man's death are under investigation at this time by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office.
There were no other injuries reported.
