The incident happened around 2 a.m. today as a private event at the venue was wrapping up.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Emmanuel Miranda Sr., the altercation began when the suspect refused to leave the club's lower level after entering from upstairs.

A confrontation erupted when the security guard attempted to escort the suspect out.

The suspect became aggressive and swung at the guard. In response, the guard struck the man, causing him to fall to the ground.

As the guard restrained him, the suspect pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the guard twice in the shoulder and once in the hand.

The suspect, described as a 5'8" Black male with dreadlocks, fled the scene after the attack. Ad

Surveillance footage captured his image, and police are now circulating the footage to aid in identification.
