A brazen armed robbery reported in at a Newark Supermarket on Monday evening has police on the search for suspects.
Police were called to The Lion Supermarket located at 502 Irvine Turner Boulevard before 6 pm. after they received reports of an armed robbery in progress.
Units arrived at the scene and were told by employees that two black males entered the store with one of the men armed with a gun. Employees say one of the men pointed the gun and demanded cash from the register while the other assailant stood as a lookout during the incident.
According to preliminary reports, the suspect took about 300 dollars from the establishment before sprinting away from the store southbound on Irvine Turner Boulevard.
Police say both suspects wore scarves over their faces.
There were no physical injuries reported.
