Forecasters at the National Weather Service said residents in Newark and the North Jersey region are advised to prepare themselves for a change in weather as scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to appear this afternoon.
With moderate air quality and high humidity, NWS forecasters say it promises to be a soupy and humid day outside.
According to the latest weather report from The National Weather Service, the humidity currently stands at 66%. The wind speed is variable at six mph, and the barometer reading is 29.79.
The day will begin with scattered showers, expected to persist until 2 pm. Afterward, meteorologists said there would be a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2 pm and 3 pm.
As the afternoon progresses, the weather forecast predicts thunderstorms will likely accompany showers after 3 pm. The sky will remain mostly cloudy throughout the day.
Temperatures are expected to reach a high near 77 degrees. NWS forecasters say a southeast wind will blow at a speed of 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
Notably, there is a 60% chance of precipitation, making it advisable for residents to carry umbrellas and raincoats while stepping out.
