The Rutgers University senior seriously injured the night the Rahway cab driver was killed remains hospitalized.
Rahway Police Department patrol units were called to the 1400 block of Bedford Street shortly before 11 p.m. August 25, at which time they found the body of Imad Alasmar, 57, of Edison, in his taxi.
Immediately following the shooting, Alasmar’s vehicle collided with a parked Ford Fusion, occupied by Stacey Lopez and her boyfriend, Eric Gandolfe.
Lopez saw the taxi cab coming down the road when shots rang out sending the taxi cab careening towards Gandolfe's car.
The impact threw Lopez out the side passenger door into a tree.
Lopez was transported to University Hospital in Newark with fractures to her shoulder, ribs and pelvis and a nearly foot.
She remains at the hospital and has undergone nine surgeries to save the foot.
Gandolfe (Lopez's boyfriend),19, of Bridgewater, was also transported to an area hospital with a concussion, a broken tooth and knee injuries. He was later released, according to police.
Earlier this month, authorities arrested Nathaniel Young, 20, in Essex County, authorities said.
