Police accused a 35-year-old woman of driving drunk then crashing into a parked vehicle with two children inside.
According to police, on Mar. 10th, at approximately 10:25 a.m., officers responded to East Grant Avenue at Walnut Street on a report of a crash involving two vehicles with possible injuries and entrapment.
Units arriving at the scene discovered a blue 2012 Toyota Rav4 in the middle of the roadway with substantial front end damage that flipped onto its roof.
According to witnesses, the vehicle was traveling westbound on East Grant Avenue when it veered to the right of the roadway striking a legally parked 2012 Chevy.
The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to flip over before it came to a rest on its roof according to police.
Police say the driver of the vehicle, Ms. Jessica L. Burgos, 35, of Roselle Park, was extricated from the car by Union County E.M.S., Roselle Park Fire Department, and Roselle Park Police.
Two passengers inside the car, 7 and 9 years of age, were not injured and were assisted out of the vehicle by a witness according to police.
Authorities arrested Burgos and charged her with driving while intoxicated with two minors in the vehicle (a disorderly person offense) and endangering the welfare of a child.
In addition, police issued her motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and careless driving.
EMS transported Burgos to University Hospital in Newark where doctors treated her for minor injuries then released her.
The crash remains under investigation by police.
