Officers responded to an apartment complex on the 100 block of W. Westfield Avenue following a 9-1-1 call from a resident of the complex to report a suspicious male in the building, on April 30, at approximately 11:41 a.m.
The suspicious male was described by the caller as a male, wearing a gray sweatshirt and gray baseball hat with a New York Yankee logo on it.
Upon arrival, responding officers observed a male walking from the rear of the apartment building matching the description provide. The officers continued to observe the suspect, when they saw him removed a pair of gloves from his hands and discard them in a trash can on Westfield Avenue.
The man was detained by police and identified as Gregory Perry, 45, of Paterson.
A check of the apartment complex revealed that two apartments had been recently burglarized.
Perry admitted to burglarizing both apartments.
Perry was arrested and charged with (two counts) of burglary, (two counts) of criminal mischief and possession of burglary tool.
He was ultimately lodged into the Union County Jail on $25,000 bail.
