Authorities in Union County are investigating a shooting that caused injuries to a male at a location in the county Tuesday night.
According to police, gunfire rang out near the Wawa convenience store located in the 1200 block of Rivington Street in Roselle at approximately 10:55 p.m.
When police arrived at the scene, they found evidence that a shooting occurred, but after a search of the area, units did not locate a victim.
Officials said at approximately 11:03 p.m., Linden Police received reports of a male suffering a bullet wound in the 900 block of Chandler Avenue.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the unidentified victim bleeding from his thigh, according to police.
The victim was transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment and remained in stable condition.
Police say a group of individuals were observed running from the Roselle crime scene, but there were no other injuries reported.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
