Police in Newark is investigating a violent assault robbery that left a person injured in the city‘s North Ward Friday.
Officials at Clara Maass Hospital notified the police when a male entered the emergency department suffering head injuries after being pistol-whipped.
Police searched for the victim after responding to reports of a robbery in progress in the 400 block of Mount Prospect Avenue.
During the robbery, the suspect began to attack the victim using the gun to strike the man in his head continuously.
The assailant fled the scene and has not been captured.
