Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrests of Juan C. Mateo-Terrero, 33, and Richard A. Almonte, 39, both of New York, on charges of Money Laundering.
According to police, on October 23rd
during a narcotics investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, a motor vehicle stop was conducted in Ridgefield Park on a green 2005 Toyota Sienna.
A subsequent search of the vehicle - occupied by Mateo-Terrero and Almonte -revealed $23,980.00 of suspiciously packaged U.S. currency.
As a result of this investigation, Mateo-Terrero and Almonte were arrested and charged with one count each of Money Laundering.
Prosecutor Grewal states that these charges are merely an accusation and tha the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
