Police in Newark spent the overnight searching for a man who was reportedly abducted during a carjacking at a location in the city's North Ward.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of an armed carjacking on Summer Avenue shortly before 12:15 a.m.
Police said when officers arrived at the scene, they were told by the victim's wife that male suspects armed with guns forced her husband into his vehicle then sped away from the scene.
Multiple police units canvassing the scene located the vehicle near 7th Avenue and Dillard Court officials said.
When officers attempted to pull the driver over, the car crashed into a parked vehicle at that location.
Police say three suspects bailed from the car in an attempt to flee the scene, but a female victim was taken into custody during the pursuit.
During a search of the crashed car, police did not find the abducted victim.
According to authorities, police located a vehicle in the vicinity of 159 Avon Avenue believed to be connected and used during the carjacking.
The abducted man and two suspects have not been located as of 2:40 a.m.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.

UPDATED NPD 6:07 A.M. : ”Shortly after midnight today, a woman reported being carjacked in the 100 block of Montclair Avenue with a man still inside the vehicle.
The carjacked vehicle was recovered in Newark. The kidnapped male victim has been located at a hotel in Elizabeth, NJ.
This incident remains under investigation”.
