Police are investigating a shooting that left a 22-year-old suffering a gunshot wound to the chest after a gun in possession of his girlfriend accidentally discharged.
Police responded to Park Crest Village apartments sometime around 9 p.m., where they found a male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
The alert and conscious victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to the victim, his girlfriend - later identified as Cheyenne Matus, 20 - grabbed the handgun (which she allegedly didn't know was loaded) from the nightstand and that the gun discharged.
According to police, no charges have been filed as of this morning
The incident remains under investigation.
