Renewing Friendship In Marriage As Business Owners

We had a 3-day disagreement about something that seemed so petty then.

But as we got to the root of the real issue 3-days in, we realized what we were dealing with were just the symptoms of a deeper problem that had gone unaddressed for too long.

Our connectivity was fading.

Our connection became buried underneath the hustle and bustle of daily goals and to-do lists. It's crazy because we felt like we were winning in one area of life, but when it came to our level of connection, it felt like it was unraveling.

We were together all the time, yet still drifting apart.

Every marriage has seasons of closeness and seasons of distance. But healthy marriages decide and commit not to stay distant and work through the hard conversations.

We share this because when your marriage is in a hard place (and you're building a business), it can add a more challenging dynamic to the equation and make you feel like you're the only one... you're not.

So, what do you do when these hard times come?

The answer has always been that we remember to be friends first. We were friends before we were husband and wife. How you treat your friend is predicated on your trust and knowing that you're both on the same team. When you're on the same team, you fight the issue, not each other.

You don't compete with each other, but instead, you compromise to get the desired outcome.

When talking to your friend, you are mindful of your words. The goal is never to hurt but to hear and understand.

There's so much to be said about this, as every marriage has nuances. However, there are fundamental truths that can be applied across the board. One of them is to be good friends.

One of the ways we do this is by keeping the doors of communication open. We speak up quickly when something that doesn't feel right has been said.

We have daily legacy meetings as a safe and sacred space to share updates and get feedback. So many things in life are created to pull us away from each other, but we got married to do life together. If you want to start implementing daily legacy meetings, we've made a free meeting template. You can grab yours here.

Here's to living purposefully, powerfully, and profitably in sync,
