Red Flag Fire Warning Continues as North Jersey Awakes to Cooler Friday

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Good morning. It's a cooler, brisk Friday, and temperatures have dipped just above seasonal norms.AdAfter two mild, springlike days, today's weather will remind us that fall has returned to the region.

Despite clear, sunny skies expected throughout the day, a Red Flag Warning remains in effect. The National Weather Service has maintained this alert due to ongoing dry conditions and the heightened fire risk.

Recent brush fires across the state stress the risk, as any flames that start could spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.

According to the National Weather Service, today's high will be near 68 degrees, and light west winds will pick up to 10-15 mph by mid-morning.

Tonight will be mostly clear, and temperatures will cool down to about 41 degrees. Some rain is anticipated on Sunday, but it's likely to compensate for the recent rain shortfall.AdStay warm and safe, and have a fabulous Friday, North Jersey!
