Red Bank’s Hoops America Basketball Coach Charged with Explicit Contact of Minors

Red Bank Woodbridge Township

Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christie L. Bevacqua and Director Robert Hubner of the Woodbridge Police Department announce that a basketball coach for US Hoops, also known as Hoops America, was arrested yesterday on multiple charges involving the sexual assault of a minor who was known to him.

Police say Mr. Corey J. Pinto, 29, of Woodbridge was arrested and charged with twelve criminal counts including aggravated sexual assault in the first degree, two counts of sexual assault in the second degree, aggravated criminal sexual contact in the third degree, two counts of criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree, endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree and five second-degree counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The investigation was conducted by members of the Woodbridge Police Department, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, and the U.S. Marshals’ New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Their investigation revealed that on multiple occasions in 2019, Pinto supplied the minor with marijuana and alcohol and engaged in sexual activity with the victim, who was known to him.

Pinto was a basketball coach at US Hoops or Hoops America, a private training club based out of Red Bank since 2010.

The defendant is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center pending a Detention Hearing.

The investigation is active and is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Oscar Ayala of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-4045, or Detective Eric Ransom of the Woodbridge Police Department at (732) 634-7700.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Pinto are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
