Police in Jersey City are attempting to find the motive behind a vicious slashing of a person that occurred overnight in the city.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of 19 Kensington Avenu after they received reports of a person bleeding heavily at that location.
Police units arrived at the scene and found a male victim suffering severe slash wounds to the head and neck according to police officials.
EMS transported the seriously injured male to Jersey City Medical Center where doctors began to treat then stitch the victim's injuries police said.
Police are looking into the exact location that the incident occurred and who is responsible for the attack.
The incident remains under investigation.
