An investigation is underway for accusations that a Newark firefighter sexually assaulted a woman inside a downtown firehouse this week.
Newark fire officials only confirmed that an active investigation into the alleged incident Wednesday.
However, because of the ongoing investigation no other details were immediately available other than department investigators were seen at the fire station - located at 65 Congress St. - Thursday evening gathering evidence.
An internal investigation was being handled by the Newark Fire Department's Arson Unit.
