Rainy Sunday Morning in Newark, North Jersey Region as Saturday Snow Melts Away

Newark

My family and friends in Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a rainy and overcast Sunday morning, as overnight precipitation and slightly rising temperatures have washed away much of the recent snowfall.

As rain continues to fall across the region, an umbrella will be essential for those heading out early, whether for Sunday worship or morning errands as rain continues to fall across the region.

Temperatures in Newark are currently at 36 degrees, with steady showers making for a wet start to the day.

In Sussex and Morris counties, where temperatures remain at or below freezing, precipitation takes the form of sleet or snow, creating the possibility of slick roads and hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will continue through early afternoon, with fog expected in some areas before 1 p.m.

Temperatures will gradually rise to a high of 49 degrees, with northeast winds shifting southwest at 7 to 15 mph, and gusts reaching up to 26 mph.

Conditions will partially clear by Sunday night. The low will be around 26 degrees, and wind chills will drop between 15 and 25 degrees.

A breezy evening is expected, with a slight chance of showers before 8 p.m.

With wet and, in some areas, icy conditions, drivers and pedestrians should use caution. Stay safe and dry as the region transitions out of this latest round of winter weather.
