North Jersey residents are starting the week with a mix of rain and snow, creating challenging conditions for commuters and school-goers.Newark is waking up to a rainy 41 degrees, while heavier snow is falling in parts of Sussex and Morris counties.
The National Weather Service reports that Monday’s forecast includes steady rainfall throughout the morning, with a chance of mixed precipitation in some areas.
Commuters should exercise caution on slick and potentially icy roadways, particularly in areas experiencing snow accumulation.
The rain is expected to taper off by late morning as temperatures climb to a high near 49 degrees. Winds will shift from the northeast to southeast at 6 to 8 mph.
Rain will return Monday night, becoming steadier after 10 p.m., with temperatures rising to around 53 degrees by 4 a.m.
New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half an inch are expected.
