A late-night fire in Newark's North Ward resulted in two people being injured after they jumped from the second and third floors to escape the flames.
Firefighters responded to an emergency call at a multi-family residence at 889 Broadway shortly before 10:25 p.m. on Thursday.
Upon arrival, fire crews found flames engulfing the first floor of a three-story house adjacent to the bridge.
They quickly deployed several hoses to combat the fire and managed to bring the situation under control within thirty minutes.
The individuals, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The cause of the fire is currently under active investigation.
