Did you ever play on the seesaw as a kid?
Can you remember how exhilarating it was to be pushed to the top by your play buddy, and then you do the same for them? Either you were up, or you were down.
It wasn't made for you BOTH to be in the air equidistant from the ground.
That's the picture that comes to mind when thinking about the common hurdles for marriedpreneurs. Either there is a big focus on profitability, which is necessary to be in business.
Or the focus is on productivity systems, which are also needed for sustainability and scaling.
Depending on where you are on your marriedpreneur journey determines where your focus is.
However, we've learned that the tricky part is being 'equidistant' from the ground with a focus on both productivity and profitability systems. Many are unaware that there are two primary areas to focus on regardless of market, model, or messaging: you NEED profitability and productivity systems.
Let's first define what each of these are:
Profitability System: An organized framework or method that produces revenue in business
Productivity System: An organized framework or method that produces more time, freedom, and mental space in the workday.
The mistake is often thinking there's one primary or BEST profit model to use and likewise with productivity. As marriedpreneurs, it's critical to understand what works best for you both in this season with your capacity and skillset.
Taking inventory to determine what works may be something different from what worked best before. It's kind of like using a fax when it was THE way to send a document quickly. But we cannot scan and 'fax' a document from our phones.
Taking inventory is key.
