Authorities swiftly apprehended a prisoner who attempted to escape a hospital in Jersey City on Monday afternoon.
Police say the suspect was arrested for robbery, then taken to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment of an unspecified injury was allowed to use the restroom around 3:15 p.m.
When officers went to check on the suspect, they noticed that he reportedly pushed his way up through the ceiling in an attempt to escape the hospital.
Police temporarily sealed off the hospital and halted the light rail system while they searched for the suspect.
The incident is under investigation.
