Post-Graduation Celebrations Face Extreme Heat, Potential Storms in North Jersey Region

As the Newark and North Jersey region endures its fourth consecutive day of high heat and humidity, residents planning post-graduation events should brace for potential disruptions.AdDespite an early start at 4:30 a.m. with temperatures at 74 degrees and a real feel of 78, the mercury is set to rise quickly throughout the morning.

The National Weather Service forecasts a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. today.

Conditions will remain mostly sunny and extremely hot, with highs nearing 100 degrees and heat index values soaring as high as 106 degrees. A south wind of 5 to 9 mph will persist throughout the day.

For those hosting afternoon and evening outdoor events, such as post-graduation celebrations or cookouts, be prepared for possible showers and thunderstorms, particularly before 11 p.m. tonight.AdThe evening will partly clear up, with a low of around 78 degrees.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, seek shade, and watch for signs of heat exhaustion during outdoor activities. Enjoy your Saturday, but remain cautious of the weather conditions.
