Police in Irvington are on the search for a violent armed robbery suspect who robbed a popular bodega in the township late Wednesday evening.
According to authorities, a black male suspect stormed into the Maribel Grocery store (located in the single digit block of Rosehill Place) armed with a gun and began waving it at a clerk while he demanded cash from the register. The suspect then jumped onto the counter and began to go through the cash register.
Frustrated and agitated with the little amount of cash that was in the register, the suspect shouted demands for additional cash then fired a round in the direction of the employee, making his violent intent clear according to reports.
Within a fraction of a second, the clerk dove to the ground where he just avoided being struck by gunfire reports said.
The suspect made off with a small amount of cash shortly before police responded to investigate.
There has been no arrests reported.
