Police in Newark swiftly recovered a vehicle that was carjacked at gunpoint from a Newark West ward neighborhood on Sunday evening.
The armed carjacking was reported in the area of West End Avenue and Howell Place at around 6:25 p.m. sending police to the scene where they were approached by the victim who reported that a male suspect -who was armed with a weapon- exited a dark colored vehicle (possibly a Dodge Charger with Ohio license plates) and demanded the vehicle.
Several police officers canvassed the area looking for a white 2010 Nissan Maxima according to reports.
Officers located the vehicle shortly before 6:45 p.m. a short distance away.
Police are continuing to search for the suspect.
