Police in Newark swiftly recovered a vehicle that was carjacked at gunpoint in Newark's North Ward overnight.
Officers responded to a carjacking in progress that was reported in the area of Elmwood and Woodside avenues before 1 a.m.
Upon arrival, police began to search for a white 2016 Nissan Altima that was occupied by two black male suspects, armed with a gun, who committed the crime.
A citywide search had police locate the unoccupied vehicle in the area of 2nd Street and Gould Place.
A K9 unit from the Essex County Sherriff's Department responded to the scene for assistance and a search of the vehicle.
There were no physical injuries reported.
