A 26-year-old man accused of killing a Jersey City woman and her son last week has been shot by police this evening.
Sometime around 8 p.m. this evening, police arrived to a house on Clay Street in Hackensack, where they were eventually confronted by Jose Ronald Santos-Alvarez who was reportedly armed with a knife.
After charging towards officers, Santos-Alvarez was shot.
He was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center in unknown condition.
Last Wednesday (October 7), police esponded to a Lincoln Street home around 5:30 p.m., where a mother, Monika M. Potoczniak, 27, and her son, Christopher R. Potoczniak, 4, were found unconscious.
Both were transported CarePoint Health-Christ Hospital where they were pronounced dead shortly before 6:30 p.m.
Results from the Medical Examiner determined that Monika was strangled and Christopher had been suffocated.
Saturday (October 10) an arrest warrant was issued for Santos-Alvarez.
