Officials in Paterson are investigating a police-involved shooting that left a dog dead in a section of the city on Sunday evening.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to the vicinity of 932 East 26th Street to conduct an investigation when an out-of-control dog attempted to attack officers.
Police reported fired shots that struck and killed the dog and two bystanders suffered non-life-threatening injuries from a ricochet that stuck them.
The incident is under investigation.
