Authorities in Newark request the public’s help identifying the suspects in connection with the armed robbery of a victim who was selling Mother’s Day cards and gifts on May 14.
According to Newark Police, officers responded to the incident, which occurred at approximately 5:25 p.m. at Lyons Plaza, located in the 400 block of Lyons Avenue.
Police say the victim was on the sidewalk selling Mother's Day items when one of the suspects approached him from behind with a weapon and demanded money.
The suspect snatched $600 from the victim’s hand and fled with the other suspect in a four-door, tan-colored 2011 Hyundai Sonata bearing Pennsylvania license plate LCZ4466.
According to the Police, they seek the public’s help locating the vehicle, captured on surveillance video traveling northbound on Fabyan Place.
Suspect #1, a Black male, wore black sweatpants, a white T-shirt, white sneakers, and a black surgical mask.
Suspect #2, described as a male with a medium build, was wearing dark-colored blue jeans, a grey sweatshirt with a hood, white sneakers, and a surgical mask.
