Newark authorities request the public’s help identifying the suspects who carjacked two victims at gunpoint on January 8.
According to Newark Police, officers responded to a call about the carjacking, which occurred at approximately 9:08 p.m. in the 80’s block of Green Street.
Police say the victims were sitting in a 2008 Nissan Altima when two males armed with handguns approached the vehicle.
One of the suspects opened the driver’s door and demanded that she get out of the vehicle and give up her belongings.
According to authorities, the driver and a passenger complied as the suspects entered the vehicle and drove away eastbound on Green Street.
Detectives say an hour later, the vehicle was recovered at 21st Street and Madison Avenue in Irvington.
Suspect #1 is a Black male with a slim build, was wearing a black hoodie, light-colored jeans, and a black ski mask.
Police said the other suspect, also a Black male with a slim build, was wearing a white and black varsity jacket with a white line across the front.
