Newark Public officials request the public’s help identifying a suspect who fired several shots at an unidentified vehicle on September 2.
According to Newark Police, officers responded to a ShotSpotter Detection, which picked up shots fired at approximately 10:33 p.m. in the 100 block of 19th Avenue.
Newark officials say, when officers arrived, they canvassed the area and recovered seven 9mm casings from that location to the intersection of 19th Avenue and South 20th Street.
The gunfire struck a vehicle traveling on South 20th Street.
According to police, the suspect is described as a 5’8” inch tall Black male with a medium build.
Police say, he has a dreadlock hairstyle and was wearing a black sweatshirt with a hood, a dark-colored ski mask, grey pants, and a fanny pack.
The suspect, who was last seen running northbound on South 20th Street toward Irvington, is known to be around the 700 block of South 20th Street.
