Authorities in Newark request the public's help identifying the suspect in connection with a package theft that occurred on Wednesday, January 24.Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said that at approximately 3:48 p.m., a package was delivered to a residence at Mead Street near Silver Street.
The package was missing when the victim arrived to retrieve it, officials said.
According to officials, surveillance footage showed a Black male suspect walking up to the property and removing the package at approximately 4:48 p.m.
The suspect then continued walking with the package, heading northbound towards Silver Street, officials say.
Officials said detectives investigating this incident seek the public's help p in quickly identifying this suspect.
Authorities say he is described as wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and gray sneakers and carrying a gray book bag on his back.
Director Fragé urges anyone with information regarding the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
