East Orange police are actively investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred on Thursday afternoon, according to a statement released by the East Orange Police Department. The incident unfolded shortly before 4 p.m. when police received a report of a group of juveniles running near Park Avenue and North Oraton Parkway.
One of the juveniles was allegedly carrying what appeared to be a handgun.
Moments later, a second call was made reporting gunshots in the same area.
Upon investigation, officers discovered shell casings at the scene. Some of the casings are believed to be connected to the damage of a parked vehicle, which sustained a broken windshield in the 300 block of Park Avenue.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
