An early morning armed robbery that occurred in Newark's North Ward had police on the search for the suspects responsible for the crime.
Police were called to the vicinity of Bloomfield Avenue and North 3rd Street to investigate reports of an armed robbery in progress at approximately 4 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene and began a search for a 5'10" slim built black male suspect who was last observed wearing a red and black shirt and a black ski mask according to authorities.
Police say the suspect approached the victim armed with a black handgun and demanded personal possessions. The victim reportedly handed over several items to the suspect.
The suspect ran eastbound on Third Avenue immediately after the robbery police said.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
There were no physical injuries reported.
