An early morning carjacking in Newark has police on the search for the suspect responsible.
Police responded to a car wash located in the 400 block of Mc Carter Highway on reports of a carjacking in progress at around 4:30 a.m.
Units arrived to find the victim who reported to police that shortly before they arrived to the scene, a Hispanic male suspect jumped into his vehicle and fled the scene onto Mc Carter Highway.
The vehicle is a midnight blue 2-door 2004 Mercedes with a reported NJ license plate number "W73-DKY".
The suspect is medium build and is around the age 18-years-old.
There were no physical injuries reported.
