Police say Juvenile Tried to Drive Through Freight Train Crossing in Deadly Crash

Middlesex County authorities announced that a juvenile has been charged in connection with a fatal collision, which resulted in his juvenile passenger's death.

According to a statement released, police said the male juvenile was charged with Aggravated Manslaughter, Vehicular Homicide, Causing a Death While Driving Unlicensed, and Aggravated Assault.  

The initial investigation was conducted by Traffic Safety Officer William Kloos of the Piscataway Police Department and Detective Jonathan Berman of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.  

On November 19, the investigation determined that the juvenile’s vehicle was struck by a freight train as the juvenile tried to drive through a railroad crossing at the intersection of New Brunswick Avenue and Tyler Place while the audio and visual warning devices were activated.  

The juvenile passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
