Police safely removed a barricaded man wanted for a shooting incident in Newark Monday morning.
The incident unfolded in the vicinity of South 9th Street and 11th Avenue around 7:09 a.m. in the 100 block of 9th Street.
Newark Police officials said officers responded to the 100 block of S. 9th Street on a call of shots fired.
Upon arrival, police said the suspect fled into a residence in the area and barricaded himself there.
The Newark Police Emergency Service Unit responded, and the suspect was safely taken into custody.
Newark Police officials said no injuries had been reported.
This incident remains under investigation.
