Multiple reports from residents who alleged that they drove or walked past a tarp with a dead body
wrapped inside was knocked down by police.
Residents dialed 911 on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday, reporting that they found a blue tarp with a human body wrapped inside just before the access ramp of NJ-21 at Chester Street.
A public information request to Newark Police officials returned with authorities stating that after their investigation, officers found that someone possibly dumped a large dead deer near the highway.
Police say the remains were not a human body.
It has not been confirmed if the dead animal was en route to a local butcher and possibly fell off a truck at that location.
Newark Police officials referred all questions to the Department of Transportation for additional information regarding the matter.
