A report of a carjacking Wednesday morning has authorities in Lakewood investigating.
According to officials, just before 1 a.m.
this morning, officers responded to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in response to carjacking that had occurred a short time earlier.
Responding officers learned that the victim, a 20-year-old Lakewood woman, was sitting in her silver 2018 Hyundai Sonata, in the the area of Route 9 and Liberty Drive when an unidentified man approached her and asked for directions.
According to the victim, the man began to beat on her window with his hands until it ultimately broke. He then entered the vehicle and forcefully pushed her out through the passenger side of the vehicle as he drove off causing the female to sustain minor injuries after exiting the moving vehicle.
Police say the suspect - described as approximately 6’ tall with blonde hair - fled the area in the victim’s vehicle.
At this time the investigation is still underway.
