Police officials in Newark are reporting that a man found underneath a highway overpass was distraught and wanted to kill himself until two police officers calmed him down and prevented him from committing suicide on Tuesday.
Officials said when the officers responded, they saw the man, who was upset, underneath the Route 78 overpass at Watson and Elizabeth avenues around 11:33 p.m.
According to police, officers were able to address his concerns, explaining that the department could help him seek employment and access other services he may need.
